Flea problems

A small (2mm) wingless insect, red-brown in colour with legs designed for jumping. All adults are parasitic on warm-blooded animals.

The diet of foxes comprises rodents, insects, worms, fruit, birds, eggs and all other kinds of small animals. The fox generally consumes around 1kg food every day. Foxes that live in neighbourhoods mainly depend on household waste and even rodents and birds that keep moving around these areas. Foxes are normally extremely wary of humans.

• Adults feed on blood and their bites can cause intense irritation.
• The cat flea is the commonest type followed by the human flea and the bird flea.

Bed bug problems

A once common pest of slum dwellings, now much reduced due to improved hygiene standards. They still occur regularly, particularly in multi-occupancy buildings with frequent resident turnover, for example hotels, hostels and blocks of flats.

• The adult bug is around 3.5mm long; it can crawl up most vertical surfaces.
• They normally emerge at night to feed and bite their hosts and can cause severe local irritation.

Cockroach problems

The adult German cockroach is 10-15mm long, the common or Oriental cockroach is 20-24mm long. They thrive in heated buildings eg hospitals, bakeries, hotel and restaurant kitchens, laundries and blocks of flats.

Control is not easy because of the difficultly in getting the insecticide to the insect. The insecticide should have sufficient persistence to kill the nymphs hatching later. For rapid clearance of badly infested buildings please contact us
